Aunt Sarah

We are looking forward to seeing Aunt Sarah next week!  She has a special relationship with our sweet little Connor.  She loves him and he loves her.

One of the many gifts she has given him are some owl loveys.  Connor's too young to recognize objects and for attachments to them, but he can grabs some things now.  Sometimes it seems like he's helping keep his onesies up when we're changing his diaper, and occasionally like he's holding our faces.  He definitely grabs my hair if his hand is near it, and he puts his arms around ours when we are holding him.

The other day we put his lovey in his hand and he held onto it, so we took some pictures!

Growing Boy!

Connor is in the middle of a growth spurt right now, which is really exhausting because he's eating almost twice as much and waking up all night, as well as sleeping less because he's eating more.  He's growing up in so many other ways though!

He talks to us all the time, especially when he's with Patrick.  He loves to look at him and talk and talk.  Connor also loves to have conversations with the ceiling fans, but much more often with Patrick.

One thing that Connor inherited from his dad was his hands.  Patrick and really nice long, thin fingers, with a ridiculously overlarge thumb, as seen here, in a picture from shortly after we got engaged:
And Connor hand from a couple days ago:

The good lens for our camera was messed up and made half of the frame of some pictures blurry, so since Connor has been born, and a little before, we've been using our friend Jason's kit lens.  I finally sent it in to be cleaned on July 6th, and I was really excited to get it back last Friday.  Now I can take a lot closer up pictures from farther away, as well as better pictures in dimmer light.  I took a bunch of Connor, but as he still hates the flash, and likes to move, many of them are blurry.  Here are best, with many more to come.

Connor Flips!

I was just talking to one of my coworkers yesterday about how I hadn't been setting Connor down for tummy time as much as I should be. I mentioned to him how Connor has pretty good head control, and he said, "So I guess the next step is for him to flip over?"

I thought it'd probably still be awhile before that happened, but later, when I set Connor down for tummy time, I was immediately impressed by how far up Connor was holding his head. Then, so quick I couldn't believe it, he flipped over on his back!

After Becca and I got over our amazement, I grabbed the video camera in case Connor had it in him to flip over again. He didn't disappoint (then again, he never does)! Blogger limits the video size to 100 MB, so I didn't get it all in one clip here.

I am always surprised to hear how Southern my voice sounds... so much more so than how I hear it when I speak! I wonder what Connor's little voice is going to sound like.

Go Connor! Your mom and I are so proud of you! Right after this happened, Becca scooped Connor up and cried a little bit about how fast he is growing.

I like to hang out with Connor whenever he's in the mood for it. I'm enjoying every bit of being Connor's dad, and I look forward to watching him grow and helping him learn. I also look forward to meeting his future little brother(s) and/or sister(s)!

Weekend

This was a really fun weekend!  We had a good time with our friends.  Two of our friends, Joe and Robin came and spent Saturday night with us.  They live near Montgomery, AL, but will hopefully soon live in Franklin, TN, changing their distance from us from 3 hours to 1.5 hours.

I love Connor!

I post a lot about what we're doing, but I haven't posted about Connor's development or our daily life.

I love being with Connor every day and being his mommy!  Right now he sleeps a long time every night, making noises in his sleep to let me know he's hungry and most of the time I can feed him while he's still sleeping.  He generally goes to sleep when we do, has a "long" sleep (about 3 hours), eats, and then eats every two hours after that.  It's nice to have a fairly dependable pattern.  I still am shocked almost every time I wake up when he wants to eat.  I think to myself, "We just went to sleep! He can't be hungry already!" and sure enough, it's been two hours.

He has a small wakeful period around 7-8 and then another around 10-11, and sleeps hard in the early afternoon, and then wakes up to be with Patrick when he comes home.  Connor associates Patrick with his awake time, and he loves being with Patrick, so it's pretty hard for Patrick to get Connor to go to sleep.

Connor sleeps about 18-20 hours of the day right now, so there's a lot of time where we are just quiet together.  I also have a hard time taking naps in the day, so most days, we stay in bed together until at least 11.  Getting up for 10-15 minutes every two hours during the night is not exactly restful.

Fourth of July Weekend!

Patrick and I decided since the weekend of the Fourth was a three day weekend, we should take advantage of it and take a trip back to Signal Mountain.  Traveling with a baby makes you value longer stays since it takes a considerably larger amount of time to pack.

Friday we went to eat with my sister Sarah and our friend Lorin.  My mom had had dinner out with a friend and she took care of Connor.  It was the first time we had a meal without him, and it was fun, but I was ready to see him when we were done.

Saturday we spent with my mom and brother Will at her house until dinner time.  Patrick's dad was making hamburgers for our friends and Megan's.  We had a lot of fun eating and hanging out.  Our friends Leslie and Kevin brought their baby, and so it was little different from other parties at the Jemisons with a bunch of single people drinking.

Our friends Samantha and Brad with Connor

Sunday I forgot to bring my camera out.  I don't know what it is about Chattanooga that makes me forget it.  We went to lunch with my family and my grandmother, which was a lot of fun, and then went swimming at my cousins pool with Sarah and our friend David.

Monday I got us all dressed up in our coordinating Fourth of July outfits and took some pictures with Sarah.

So cute!
