Eamon Cutie-Cutes

Oh my, but this baby is cute!  And fat!  He is so happy right after he wakes up.  He catches your eye and lights up, grinning a giant toothless grin.  I just want to eat him up.  He loves his dada so very much.  He leans his body forward, like he wants to launch himself at him.  He loves hearing Patrick's voice and is so happy when Patrick holds him and talks to him.
This is Eamon's Halloween costume:
Radagast the Brown!  We are all different
wizards from books.
"Eamon nekkid!" says Connor.
Gift from my friend Jessica.  Silly skeleton.

Little Men in Motion

I'll lead off with this cute picture of Eamon. He is such a sweet little guy. He always smiles at me when he realizes I am looking at him. He likes to be sung to, he likes to be snuggled, and he likes hugging me around my right arm with his left while I hold him.

Connor has been getting more interested in Eamon lately. Earlier today, he ran up to Eamon in the swing and gave him a kiss and started hugging him (a little too tight). When Eamon started fussing, Connor said, "Shh Eamon. Dada's got you." This is what I say when I'm trying to comfort him, and it made me laugh pretty hard to hear Connor repeat it.

Tonight I am continuing my trend of not writing anything for a long time, then just uploading a whole bunch of videos. These ones all came off our little dedicated video camera that we've had since before we owned smart phones. All stuff from around the house, where we spend most of our days, relaxing all cool.

This first one is just Connor being a little goof and making me laugh.

This little "tunnel" is something we had for Connor that I recently set up for Eamon. He almost immediately started bopping away at it. We realized he was doing it on purpose, and that this is his first intentional interaction with any toys!

Connor decided to join Eamon under the tunnel and blame his sneezes on him. This may gross some of you out, but Connor recently pooped in the bath, and he blamed that on Eamon, too.

Connor and I have a lot of fun with these blocks that Becca got from Woot. I'm always trying to come up with some new structure to build for Connor's entertainment. This one was a big hit with him. He played in it for a few minutes before knocking it down!

This turned out to be a great video showing what it's like when Connor plays on the bed. Note his total disregard for Eamon's safety and the couple of close calls of him falling on Eamon.

This video almost gets a little boring, but then... surprise ending!

Grandaddy's Funeral

On Tuesday, September 24th, my sister Sarah called me to say that my grandfather, Erwin David Latimer III, who was almost 90, passed away that morning.  He had been living the past 5 years in medical assisted living facility after his major stroke, just 3 days after Patrick's and my wedding in 2008.  He was in hospice care and the last months of his life was largely unresponsive and slept 20 hours a day.  The last time I saw him was at Easter this year and I regret not going to see him more, but it has always been complicated being pregnant with a toddler.  We are all sad, but relieved that he was able to leave his broken body to be whole again in heaven.

I was happy to have the occasion to see my brothers and sister and nieces and nephew on a non-scheduled trip.  I was really happy they were able to meet Eamon, even though an one month old is kind of boring.
Sweet Arthur, who was sadly sick on this trip.

The funeral was held on Saturday.  A lot of people, including an enormous amount of family, came to help us celebrate Grandaddy's life.  I was really happy to see my cousins, but as always, wished that I wasn't so distracted.  When I was in high school and my cousins were together, I was caught up in myself and our conflicting ideas of fun (to put it euphemistically).  Now, I got littles that need me, a LOT.

Becca's Videos

These are some fun videos from my phone!  I'll get Patrick to post videos from his phone and the video camera soon.
Connor loves dancing to me singing and clapping.  We were singing to Eamon, but he was the one dancing around :)
This is from the second time we went to Tate Family Farms, with Sarah.  The corn cribs were nearly empty and he had so much going in each one with Sassy.
Sweet Eamon talking.  I think he was trying to convince me to pick him up.
This is a strange video.  It's a video of Connor dancing to a video of Connor dancing while watching a video of Connor dancing.

Letter to Connor

Dearest little boy,
How delightful you are!  You fill my days with joy.  From the moment when you switch from happily playing in your room after waking up, to yelling "Here come, Mama!" letting me know you are ready to play with me!  You are learning to love Eamon and have accepted him as a good part of life.  You are very concerned for his well being: every time he makes a noise, most of the time commanding us to go and get him, because you are sure he is upset and needs us.  You say, "Baby Eamon's crying!" If he makes noise, you usually tell him, "Issokay baby Eamon."  You've also been telling me that every time I sneeze or cough.  "Issokay Mama.  You okay."  If Eamon is awake, you will look into his face and giggle, "Baby Eamon's silly." The past couple of days you have asked to hold him, and even though it is brief, if makes your dad and I so happy that you want to be close to him.  While you are holding him you point out his features and call him silly or talk about his hiccups.

In the mornings, after nursing, which we sometimes can do alone, if Eamon is asleep, or with Eamon, if he's not asleep, you get breakfast, which is usually "a-gol-bar" (granola bar).  It's fun to me how much you like them and how you get excited about having one.  You run around the house, eating it slowly, since you get distracted a lot by your toys, Eamon, me, or something else in the house.

You like to spend time outside, but you're not all about it.  We usually suggest it and then you agree, telling us if you want to go out the front or the back.  In the back yard you play with your water table, usually getting pieces of sidewalk chalk and throwing them into the water or getting them out.  Occasionally you will actually draw with the chalk.  You like making circles and try to draw other shapes too, but they come out as close parallel lines.  We have several rabbits that live in our back yard and we point them out to you.  When you finally see them (it can be hard to direct your attention to the right place, you get a little zoned) then you will chase after it, yelling "Hey bunny!"   You can usually get within 5 feet before you start slowly sneaking up on it.  When it bolts, you tell me matter-of-factly, "Bunny is so scared."
You love the moon and always look for it.  Most of the time you see it before we do and we are surprised when it's actually out!  Sometimes you think other things are the moon, like the smoke detectors on the ceiling at church.  You also always point out the airplanes that you see in the sky and that you hear, where ever we are.  Another thing you always point out and have to have us acknowledge are clocks.  You will often tell us, "I see an airplane/the moon/a clock!" and we have to repeated it back to you.  We go back and forth many times before you are satisfied.
I love you so much, sweet little boy.

Mama

Almost a month...

I hate going this long without posting!  Times gets away from us, and there's such a backlog of videos and pictures.  Videos especially.

I'm going to do a photo dump of our regular days, then a few posts about our trip to Chattanooga for my grandfather's funeral, Patrick's birthday, and at least one video post.

One of the most interesting (maybe?) bits of information is Eamon's stats from his two month appointment on October 15th.  He is 14 lbs 8 oz, 24.25 inches long and his head is 41 cms.  That puts him in the 97% for all three categories.  My very dry-humored pediatrician asked if I was starving him.  Connor and I both got out flu shots and Eamon got his scheduled 4, so there was a lot of nursing going on during the appointment.  I'm sure it was pretty indicative of what our time a home is like too!
He kicked himself down this far.
It's wild to me how skinny he looks in
this picture taken a month ago.
Brother love.
In love with these curls.
Someone LOVES their Dada.
Monkey trouble.
A grownup breakfast.
Some day I'll hunt down a similar picture of Connor.
Being fall, one of the fun things to do is go to the commercialized pumpkin farms in the area.  They have petting areas, a lots of slides made of farm equipments, giant corn crib, lots of pumpkins to buy, and hay rides.  We went the first time when it was still hot, and on a Saturday, so my introverts very a little overwhelmed.  The second time we went with Sarah was on a Wednesday afternoon and Connor had a much better time.  We'll have to go again now that it's cooled down to more normal October weather.
Action shot!
Where's Eamon?
Tuckered out, holding his pumpkin.
Aunt Jenny and (almost) Uncle Chris sent Connor and Eamon some "just because" presents recently.  They sent Connor this Bilibo, which is a fun imagination toy (use it however seems fun!) and Eamon an adorable outfit that inspired our Halloween costumes (in a later post).
Brother kisses.
Watching Ponyo today in Brother's bouncer.
