Letter to Connor

Dearest little boy,
How delightful you are!  You fill my days with joy.  From the moment when you switch from happily playing in your room after waking up, to yelling "Here come, Mama!" letting me know you are ready to play with me!  You are learning to love Eamon and have accepted him as a good part of life.  You are very concerned for his well being: every time he makes a noise, most of the time commanding us to go and get him, because you are sure he is upset and needs us.  You say, "Baby Eamon's crying!" If he makes noise, you usually tell him, "Issokay baby Eamon."  You've also been telling me that every time I sneeze or cough.  "Issokay Mama.  You okay."  If Eamon is awake, you will look into his face and giggle, "Baby Eamon's silly." The past couple of days you have asked to hold him, and even though it is brief, if makes your dad and I so happy that you want to be close to him.  While you are holding him you point out his features and call him silly or talk about his hiccups.

In the mornings, after nursing, which we sometimes can do alone, if Eamon is asleep, or with Eamon, if he's not asleep, you get breakfast, which is usually "a-gol-bar" (granola bar).  It's fun to me how much you like them and how you get excited about having one.  You run around the house, eating it slowly, since you get distracted a lot by your toys, Eamon, me, or something else in the house.

You like to spend time outside, but you're not all about it.  We usually suggest it and then you agree, telling us if you want to go out the front or the back.  In the back yard you play with your water table, usually getting pieces of sidewalk chalk and throwing them into the water or getting them out.  Occasionally you will actually draw with the chalk.  You like making circles and try to draw other shapes too, but they come out as close parallel lines.  We have several rabbits that live in our back yard and we point them out to you.  When you finally see them (it can be hard to direct your attention to the right place, you get a little zoned) then you will chase after it, yelling "Hey bunny!"   You can usually get within 5 feet before you start slowly sneaking up on it.  When it bolts, you tell me matter-of-factly, "Bunny is so scared."
You love the moon and always look for it.  Most of the time you see it before we do and we are surprised when it's actually out!  Sometimes you think other things are the moon, like the smoke detectors on the ceiling at church.  You also always point out the airplanes that you see in the sky and that you hear, where ever we are.  Another thing you always point out and have to have us acknowledge are clocks.  You will often tell us, "I see an airplane/the moon/a clock!" and we have to repeated it back to you.  We go back and forth many times before you are satisfied.
I love you so much, sweet little boy.

Mama
