Connor is almost here, and we have been very busy! The bag is pretty well packed for us to head to Crestwood, and the car seat is securely installed. Here are some pictures that show off some of the work Becca and I got done today:
Here you can see where Becca has set up a "changing station," as well as some decorating.
We got the curtains set up, put up some shelves on the wall, and hung up a few more pictures. There's a bunch of stuff in Connor's crib right now, but don't worry, we'll get that out of there before he sleeps in it. Our rocking chair is in the living room right now, but we might move it into that empty corner. If not, we'll put another chair right there. Not pictured is a mirror we hung on the wall on the right there.
Our friend Jason, who took care of the upgrades we did around the house, has unfortunately been unable to finish the work. This is because of pain resulting from his pancreatic cancer. He got a couple of other guys to come out, and everything is pretty much done now! I know that makes Becca very happy!
By the way, Jason is a very good friend of ours, and we are trying to help him raise some money to pay for a pancreatic cancer vaccine trial that he has been admitted to. He's keeping a blog here: Jason's Battle with Pancreatic Cancer.
Tonight Becca and I went to Palm Sunday mass, and I told Becca I wanted to make sure that we exited the center doors so we'd pass by Father Phil on our way out, so we could tell him the baby was due soon. When Becca walked up to him, he asked her when the baby was due, and Becca said, "Ten days." He said a blessing for us and our baby. Becca and I really appreciate Father Phil, as he has expressed several times in mass that children (even crying, screaming children) are always welcome.
Today during his homily, he shared with us a quotation from St. Augustine that reflects how I have been feeling about God lately:
"God loves each one of us as if there was only one of us to be loved."
I am very thankful for God's love, and it means a lot to me that He is going to (and already does) love my baby even more than I do!
I actually have more to say, but I don't want to turn this into a book! You might find this hard to believe, but I actually cut some stuff out!
How many more posts here before we're announcing Connor's arrival? I can't wait!
I'm so excited! I wish I could be there with you guys and watch this all unfold! :) Love you both and can't wait to come visit the THREE of you!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Heidi! Although (for me) it's hard to think about ANYTHING beyond Connor getting here, we are looking forward to you (and Laura and Katie) coming to visit!
